My deepest most heartfelt sympathies for you and your niece in this trying time. There's just not much you can do or say during this time that's going to alleviate this pain she's having to go through. All you can really do is make sure she knows how much you love her and support her; and I know full well how much capacity you have for empathy, my friend. Sharing her pain won't make it go away, but maybe you can help her carry it.

I'm so sorry GL, it is a trying time for her and really, there is nothing anyone can say that will make it better, she will come to terms with it in her own time and her own mind, but will be glad to know she has your support and love, that's the most important thing anyone can give at a time like this.

make sure she looks after herself physically as well. good food to eat. some nice herbal teas and plenty of water.
